- BIOM was founded by Will Pepi while at the CASE Center for Architecture Science and Ecology.
- The driving goal of BIOM is to integrate biology, engineering, and design to help people and nature thrive.
- According to the W.H.O., air quality is the #1 environmental risk to human health. Air is thus our current focus, and moss is the basis of our proposed solution.

- We build living moss air purifiers.
- Plants are the generators of fresh outdoor air. By bringing plants inside we can transform our toxic buildings into healthy and efficient biomes.
- Moss air purifiers act like rebreathers for buildings, allowing for air recirculation and HVAC energy savings by minimizing air/energy transfer across the building envelope.

- We are continuously honing innovative biofiltration techniques, focusing both on moss photosynthesis and on the breakdown of air contaminants via the moss microbiome.
- Under conditions typical of air filtration, moss photosynthesis can occur with surprising speed.
- Moss also hosts approximately 100,000 species of microbiota that collectively may catalyze or 'eat' nearly all known air contaminants.
